“I go to the children’s centre every week. My son attends the nursery there, so it’s easy for me to collect my Rose Vouchers when I pick him up.
I really do love the Rose Vouchers. I’ve been receiving them for about two years. I save the vouchers up and do a big shop at Barnsley Market. It’s great to go to the market; they know me there and that I always look for the best quality. Before I got the Rose Vouchers, I didn’t shop at the market. Now I have my vouchers to spend there, I like going to support the traders. I feel like I’m doing my bit for the local community.
I get seasonal fruit and veg from the market when I can. We have a Sunday dinner most weeks and I always get veg for that. We eat a lot of fruit too. My little girl can eat a whole punnet of strawberries to herself. My son is a bit fussier, but he will try a bit. He sees us eating fruit and vegetables, which helps encourage him to try new things.
The fruit at the market always seems to be of better quality than the fruit from the supermarket and is often bigger too. I like to get a pineapple for my daughter and me; we love it. We will sit there together and eat a whole tub of pineapple.
With the Rose Vouchers, we get to eat more fruit and veg as we don’t have to budget for it in our food bill. It helps massively.”
