How the cost of living crisis is impacting families – Rachael shares her story

The impact of the cost of living crisis – Alexandra Rose Charity Sky News interview

Rachael, a mum from Barnsley who receives our Rose Vouchers, shares the impact of the cost of living crisis on her family.

“I’m having to cut things out, such as turning off things, measuring my cups for hot water… I’m worried in the end that I’m not going to be able to heat my home, and I’ve got a two-year-old son, so it’s really difficult.

We put jumpers on; we have blankets… it is difficult. I have the heating on in the morning for a couple of hours, then go out and play and walk around to keep warm.

“The cost of food has gone up… it is ridiculous. Luckily in Barnsley, we have Rose Vouchers, which are available for us to buy fresh fruit and vegetables… The Rose Vouchers do help.”

Since our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project launched in Barnsley in 2016, we have supported 1,724 families to access fresh fruit and veg from Barnsley Market and local greengrocers.

Thank you so much to Rachael for sharing her story.
