Between 1912 and 2012 Alexandra Rose Charity organised the annual Rose Day collections where volunteers across the country raised money by selling real, paper, and silk roses. For the last 7 years, the charity has been focused on developing its new mission to give families to access to fresh fruit & vegetables in their community through the Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project.
This summer we brought Rose Day back with our families, Children’s Centres and markets celebrating the impact of the Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg project across London, Liverpool and Barnsley.
During June our local Rose Vouchers for Fruit and Veg projects held a range of events all focused on celebrating and showcasing the work each area does to support their local families to access fresh fruit and vegetables in their local communities. Some of the Children’s Centres threw Rose Day parties for the children and families with cooking activities, games and face painting. New families were recruited on the markets and lots of fun was had by all.
