We’re delighted to announce we are launching the Tower Hamlets Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project this month.
Improving access to healthy food is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve children’s health. This will be our eighth Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project, and it could not come at a more important time. The project will help increase access to fresh fruit and veg for young families and support them in giving their children the best possible start in life. This is more crucial than ever as so many families are struggling to feed their children a healthy diet as the price of food continues to escalate.
It is thanks to the donations so many of our supporters made to our Christmas Big Give campaign in 2021 that this new project has been possible. It allowed us to secure an additional £20,000 in match funding from Tower Hamlets’ public health team.
Dr Somen Banjeree, Director of Public Health, Tower Hamlets, says, “We are delighted to be collaborating with the Alexandra Rose Charity. This project not only increases access to fruit and veg but also supports local businesses and improves the health and wellbeing of residents.”
Families from three local children’s centres are now signed up to receive Rose Vouchers this month, and traders stand ready to accept Rose Vouchers on Chrisp Street Market in Poplar, which is at the heart of the local community.
A celebration of the launch of
Rose Vouchers in Tower Hamlets will be held at:
Chrisp Street Market on Tuesday 31st May 2022, from 11am – 2pm
There will be art activities, Rose Voucher giveaways & free healthy snacks.
If you’re local, pop down and celebrate with us. We’d love to see you there!
